We recently broke ground on Phase 2 of the Slate Creek MTB trail in the Uintas (pictured here!) We ask you to stay out of new construction areas, lots of sharp machinery and tools in random locations! This new phase will make the trail 14.75 miles in distance so it will be worth the drive for Salt Lake County and Utah County visitors once it's completed. Woo Hoo!!! Once a new trail is cut by a trail builder it still requires a small army of volunteers in order to get it ready for use. Transportation Trail Along SR-32 To Be Completed by End of 2021 !

The South Summit Trails Foundation has some exciting news to share. One of the most requested trails by our community is the completion of the transportation trail from Oakley to Kamas along State Road 32. The current paved trail ends at the North end of Upper Loop Road on SR-32. The community has been asking for years, 'When will we complete the trail from Marion to Francis along SR-32?' Here are your spring, trail conditions updates: The Stephens Grove Trail is dry, the Oakley Trail Park is 90% dry, the Oakley Trail is about 75% dry with some snow still covering the trail at elevations higher than 7,500 ft. The Franson Lane Trail is only 80% dry. The High Star Ranch Trail is only 75%-80% dry, with some snow still covering the trail at elevations higher than 7,500 ft. We Broke Ground on a New Trail Expansion in Oakley!

Trail building began on the new 'Oakley Trail Park' in July 2018! This non-motorized trail expansion will be open to all types of users including running, biking, hiking. History: The Oakley City Council approved a 2.5 mile, non motorized trail expansion to the Oakley Trail and old Oakley Water Tower Trail. This expansion will include lengthening and connecting existing trails, and expanding the system to include multiple mountain bike flow trails.

Live PC Give PC Thanks

Many thanks to everyone who donated in the 2017 Live PC Give PC fundraising event. Extra big thanks to everyone who chose South Summit Trails Foundation as the recipient of the donations. We received $2,417 from 55 unique donors. In addition to these donations we also received $5,000 in matching grants from an anonymous donor. We are highly appreciative of all of you! We will put these funds to good trail use.

STEVENS GROVE WORK DAY

On November 11, join us from 8am to noon as we start work on the new trail at Stevens Grove. (Directions below). Steven's Grove is located where Millrace Rd. crosses the Weber River. With local support, Summit Land Conservation purchased this 1/2 mile of the Weber River, which will be turned over to Oakley City as a 20 acre public amenity. These beautiful trails will help individuals and families enjoy horse riding, walking, running and bike riding. Join us on Saturday, October 28, from 8am to noon. We will be helping Oakley resident Braxton Booth with his Eagle Scout Project of creating an exciting new perimeter trail at Franson Lane! Event Info Here Help us improve a local trail. Meet at the trailhead at 8am while it's still cool. We will be working on the first 1/2 miles of trail and mostly in the shade. Wear long pants, closed toed shoes and gloves. The Forest Service will be there and will provide tools, helmets, etc.

The communities of ‘South Summit’ are, arguably, late to the public trails agenda but with the creation of the South Summit Trails Foundation, trails advocates are finally organized and engaged. Trail systems provide not only recreational amenities but crucially alternative transportation routes and an economic stimulus. Along the Wasatch Front, core routes such as the Jordan River Parkway, Bonneville Shoreline and Murdock Canal trails have become key commuter connectors.
