Happy February, Friends of South Summit Trails!

Winter has really turned on lately, but that hasn’t slowed us down at the South Summit Trails Foundation! We’re pushing forward on some important and exciting projects which we’ll share with you in our March newsletter. Today, we’re keeping you safe on trails, advocating for safe transportation, and spreading the stoke for the upcoming Spring season.

Trail Report as of 2/17:

· All trails are snow-covered with sections of ice near rivers and historical flooding areas. Traction devices are recommended on Franson Lane and Stevens Grove trails.

· Due to the recent snow storm and the instability of this year’s snow pack, it’s currently recommended to avoid any trails/sections of trail that are on or below slopes greater than 30 degrees. While most of our trails in the Kamas Valley do not have this type of exposure, we encourage everyone to practice avalanche safety and awareness no matter what trail you go on.

Want to know what to expect before heading out on our trails? Find our trail status updates twice a week on our website (click here!), Facebook, and Instagram.

Have you been on our trails recently and have observations or a photo share? Email us at info@southsummittrails.org, text your observations to: 435-655-1190, or tag us on social media @southsummittrails

ACTION NEEDED! SIGN OUR PETITION to show your support for the completion of the paved pathway along State Road-32 in the Kamas Valley!

Nearly two decades after Summit County approved this project, only a small section has been completed between Oakley and Marion. With this petition, we are requesting information and a timeline regarding the completion of a paved, non-motorized pathway along the east side of SR-32. We are advocating for community connection, safe travel for current and future generations, and increased access to outdoor recreation.

Read the petition here and share this link with your friends to help us raise awareness and support for this project: https://www.change.org/SR32-Pathway
